Bits to Energy Lab

A little snippet from their website, which you should probably visit.

In my continuing quest to find excellent research on the topic of conservation oriented design, I recently stumbled across the website of the Bits to Energy Lab, a joint initiative of the University of St. Gallen and ETH Zurich.

The lab’s research mission is to investigate “consumption feedback, customer engagement, and data analytics with an emphasis on economically attractive deployment and the ambition to significantly contribute to international research.” Sounds just about perfect, if you ask me.

I’m going to use a few posts to summarize the completed projects they have on their website, but I would encourage you to take a look at the many other projects that are currently under-way. Many of the projects are design-oriented, yet are testing out the efficacy of the design on large populations, which could have the effect of creating a lot of new knowledge in the area of sustainable interaction design.
