Ecofeedback.ca is a repository of eco-feedback tools and techniques. Eco-feedback is a means to better understand and decrease the use of natural resources such as electricity, water, and petrol. Using meters, sensors and some technical wizardry, many designers are developing ways to make the formerly invisible, such as real-time energy use, visible. Moreover, we are very much interested in making this newly visible information both beautiful and very engaging.

Eco-feedback tools come in all shapes and sizes – some of them are quite complex, while others are remarkably simple. The purpose of this site is to celebrate the ingenuity of those who have developed these tools and to encourage others to do the same.

My name is Cheryl Gladu, and I am currently studying eco-feedback tools for the workplace as part of a Individualized Program PhD at Concordia University in Montreal. Briefly, I’m working to better understand how we might use interactive art and design to encourage pro-environmental behaviours at work. As such, I come across a fair number of these tools and, frankly, find many of them pretty damn cool – so I thought I’d share them with you.
